Fascia's, Barge boards and Soffits

Fascia are the boards that support the guttering on your house. They are usually made out of wood. They support the bottom edge of the first row of roof tiles

Fascia boards often over hang the the outer walls of the house. The board used to fill the gap between the lower edge of the fascia board and the outside wall of the house is called a soffit board and is usually made out of asbestos, plywood or a substitute of asbestos

Barge boards are the boards which support the tile edges on the gable ends of the house.Barge boards are usually made of wood

Why replace them with Swish uPVC

Wooden fascia, barge boards and soffits require painting to prevent the wood becoming rotten. Even when this is done on a regular basis after a number of years the wood starts to deteriorate. If the wood becomes rotten then this can lead to problems with the roof rafters which support the facia and barge boards eventully leading to expensive repairs to correct the roof

Swish uPVC is cellular plastic. It is not affected by water. It is pre coloured and does not need painting. It is as strong as the soft wood it replaces and this strengh does not diminish with age.

In the past people were multi talanted in so much as they could do a number of physical jobs. Most people worked in factories and their pay was by modern stardards quite low but they could turn there hand to many jobs such as decorating and took a pride in doing there own repair work.

Today people work in a much more specialised way, They often work longer hours and although their work is not so physical it is usually more stressful. People in the modern world find it easier to deligate maintainance work to specialists. Specialists cost money and redecorating the boards around your house is like cutting the grass or doing the washing up in so much as it will need to be done again and again and again.

Replace these boards with Swish uPVC and they will be maintainance free.
